Officially, this SC50 ball bearing is coming out. After the last 2 weeks the bearing chirp has gotten worse, it now sounds like a tweetey bird at all temps in any type of boost. Not the kind of attention I want to get.
I got a new boost gauge and am noticing boost spike and very erratic numbers on boost. In the last 3 weeks I also have developed a 4500rpm stumble, as well as it taking until aboutr 4200rpm to feel the surge and acheive full boost; where as I was getting this at 3100rpm just 6 months ago.

I called Precision. I got the feeling they have heard this before from the tone of the conversation and his first words were to send it back and let us look at it and we'll go from there. It was not a "well it's out of warranty but maybe we can do something" so that makes me wonder if something happened they may know about.

I have also read posts when searching google of others with bb centers from the same time period as myself having failed bearings after just a year or so. This is all forum hear-say and I won't let it cloud my opinions....yet.

Just so we're clear, I'm only posting to share my experience and am in no way bashing Precision. So far in our conversations they're really cool. So we'll see what happens.

Now I gotta find alll the parts to my IHI.

Possibly good news! I found the turbo was loose on the manifold when I got it apart. As soon as I undid the lower bracket I knew. If I push up or pull down on the turbo with a little force it would move on the studs. Just enough to leak under pressure I think. The gasket was burnt black and very warped. I think that metal gasket was chirpin' away like a harmonica. So I got another gasket and put it back together. After swearing at the oil return not lining up threads with the turbo, for oh about 2 hours, I ran out of sunlight. My fingers are crossed for tomorrow.

Great news....not having to email that chunk of metal is always a good thing.

Hope it's all good Matt. I have had them loosen up and burn out the gasket before.

Noise solved, that was it for sure. A new, different sound for an exhaust leak is now engrained in my head.

Thats good news Matt... I don't think you wanted to send that turbo back for repair.
