Hello, its been a long time since ive been able to work on the bird and now that i have the money to invest into it id like to rebuild the turbo that is on it. its the stock ihi. i have a fuel pump clutch and gillis valve on their way right now. so i figure since im going to step the boost up a little bit i want that turbo to be pretty fresh. and like an idiot i started tearing apart before doind my research and didnt mark the orientation of the nut wheel etc. So where do i find a rebuild kit for the turbo? all the ones i find have a different looking plates. and where can i get my shaft balanced. any help would be appreciated.

Swapping a T3 in is so easy it's almost pointless to rebuild the tiny IHI. IMHO.
88TC 5speed, 160,000+, ranger roller, Evergreen T3, cone filter, manual boost controller.
One parts car still waiting to be taken apart.
Waiting in the garage: SC throttle body, SC intercooler, graphic equalizer, among other things.

wouldnt i have to go with a FMIC? or some sort of different intercooler then the stock?

Some reading on the swap. One other thing to consider. The IHI is a great street turbo. So if you are not looking for bigger power, just rebuild or replace the IHI. Now if you are looking toward the future at a FMIC, bigger exhaust, heavy-duty clutch, big fuel pump and injectors. Then definately go the T3 route. If you are just trying to keep the TC on the road for cheap. Just find a stock IHI replacement.

Travis

P.S. I would post in the wanted section.

well can i just put the ihi back together and call it good? cause if the t3 is that worth ill just put the ihi back on save a couple bucks and get the t3 at a later date. the ihi still made boost. i was just thinking rebuild it for longevity.

Of course you can do that. But with the IHI apart mite be worth getting a rebuild kit. They are pretty cheap and you have already done most of the work.

Here is a rebuild kit from ebay. I would contact the seller to verify that it will work. The part number is the same.

Good luck,
