I went out and picked up a T3 to replace my IHI. I got it from a 86 TC with a 5 speed (rebuilt). Dave at Tiny Avenger told me to make sure the rear housing has .63 stamped in it. I got the .63 but another guy just told me that I should continue to use a .48 rear housing. Who is right. Need to know before I install it.

It doesn't make any difference as far as installing it. I have the .48 on my 88.
The .48 spools a little quicker than the .63.
The .63 probably makes a little more power on the top end.

I know installation is the same, I just want to make sure I am getting more power. With the .48 having quicker response at what RPM range does initiate boost and at what piont do I reach max boost? By going with the.63 does that mean I will generate more top end power with a not so noticeable low end loss?

If you got it off a 86 TC then you have a .63 ar exaust ratio. As for more power the difference between the 2 is very small, you will notice a big differance btw the ihi and t3. But if you had a choice i would go with a .48 for street applications. and for boost levels under 20 psi.
