Turbo Problem

Well, its great to have another turbo ford...however I have a new car and new problem. My turbo wont spool up. Now...the arm comming from the wastegate is broken so I know why, but is this replaceable or am I looking at big dollars? Also, the lever the arm connects to seems to just flop around. Is this normal or do I need a new turbo? Please help.

The lever flopping is a good sign(It's not seized). and the waste gate actuater is replaceable or you could just weld the rod.
Now is actually a good time to make the rod adjustable.

Ok...how should I go about that? I mean the theory sounds easy but are there any tricks or peices I can get to make it easier? As for the lever moving easy...I just thought it shouldn't just "blow in the breeze" like it is. It just seems too loose to be attached to anything, but maybe I am wrong. Just lookin for all options

The "arm" is normally held closed by the rod you say is broken. With nothing to hold the arm in the closed position, the exhaust back pressure in that part of the turbo is going to blow the waste gate open so it can't build boost.

You could cut threads in each end of the break in the rod and put a turnbuckle on it to make it adjustable. It need to be shorter than the distance to the pivot arm by 1/2 the diameter of the hole in the pivot arm that the rod goes into.

No boost and he didn't want to figure out why. 20 minutes of time and I had the problem...now I am turning to the experts for the answer...thanks everyone please keep the ideas comin'

Go to a hardware store and get a 'drop ceiling hanger bolt' Its about 3.5" long with a hole in the end.

You could drop around $75 to 90 and just get a new WGA and rod assy.
