Turbo gasket

Has anyone ever changed their turbo gasket between the turbo and the block? Can the turbo be removed without pulling the engine? Will it clear the shock tower? Would it be hard to make a new gasket since this part is no longer availlable and my only other option is the one I've removed from my parts engine. Any help would be appreciated.

are you talking about the gasket between the turbo and the manafold? if it is, you can still get them from ford (bought 2 of them last week). the turbo should clear the shock tower with out a problem.

If you are talking between the exhaust manifold and the head, there never was a gasket there and if you put one in it will leak sooner or later.

If you are talking the gasket between the turbo and the exhaust manifold, it is metal and is available. It is possible to take the nuts off the exhaust manifold and slide it back far enough to get a new one in. You don't have to pull anything. I said possible, not easy. You will have to disconnect a lot of things to do it: oil supply line at the turbo (don't round off the fitting), the oil retune line on the bottom of the turbo (don't loose the gasket or damage the line, the coolant supply and return lines at the turbo (if so equipped), the VAM to Compressor hose and the maybe the compressor inlet pipe. Loosen or remove the downpipe flang nuts. I just loosen them and then remove the bolts from the turbo elbow that the downpipe bolts to. Or you can take the flange nuts all the way off.

Ford part # E3ZZ-9450-A gasket, comes in a pkg. of two. This is a metal gasket that goes between the turbo and the manifold. Hope this helps.
