TS Seal

Remember not long ago I had to change the head gasket? Well I did the TS to and since then I have had very little heat. If the car idles for a long period of time, the temp gauge reads normal, till I start driving, then drops FAST. So I decided to check my TS and found that when I put the new one in I didnt check the seal before installing. Well, on one side, it was pushed above the TS, and found the diameter to be not so circular. Ive found some info when I did a search that said the housingas are prone to warping, would that include this area? I dinged the side of the TS to get it to fit without the seal being pushed out. Would coolant leaking past this seal cause such a big difference in temps? Can I use some sort of sealant on the seal itlsef?

Warpage of the housing applies to the face that rests against the block. Don't overtighten the bolts

If coolant is leaking past the thermostat, that could affect operating temp, depending on the amount leaking. From what you describe about the way your temp fluctuates, you may have a fair sized leak.
Got any pictures? Thought about just putting a new stat in it. Be sure to check the mounting face of the housing for flatness

Thanks Pete. Thats what I figured yall meant that warped. I myself think its a bad leak past the stat, and its new. It wouldnt fit in the housing right unless I flattened one side some. While I had it and the housing together in the kitchen, I filled the radiator side with water and watched it come out the other side, cant tell from where around the seal its leaking tho. Can I use some gasket sealer or something on that seal to keep it from leaking?
