Trans Bearing Retainer

I know there have been some posts lately about problems with the bearing with the front bearing retainer (the sleeve the throwout bearing rides on) on the 5 speeds being cracked when the tranny is removed. Where can I get a new one and which one is the best to get? I got a clutch replacement coming up and I want to have all the parts I need ready (with no surprises).

Were those new or other bearing retainers steel or aluminum? Does anybody have an address where I can pick one up?

The originals input shaft bearing retaining collars may be alum. There is a steel replacement available but it does not fit the 87-88 T5, only the earlier T5s in TC and SVO. BTDT. Any trans shop should be able to tell you where to get the correct replacement,

The potential problem with the one on your trans now is that it may be scratched or gauled. That can cause problems. Minor scratches can be sanded down with fine emory paper and the collar reused. New ones run about $50+
