The SVT Cobra club is having an event May 25-27 witch is Memorial Day weekend. Its 3 days of full course fun, here is the link.

I think we should try and get some guys together and go down there to run. I'm going to try and have my car done to run there. I'm hoping to be done long before this so I can have at least one shake down run at Summit Point. This is the weekend before Carlisle so I suggest everyone turn the boost down so there are no blown head gaskets that have to fixed before Carlisle. I have run with these guys before. Its a good group. There will be mostly Mustang and Cobra kit cars on track so its a Ford friendly environment. Besides nothing feels better than passing some guy with his V8 in your 2.3.

I've never been to VIR. Looks like fun. But leaving my wife alone with the kiddies for two consecutive weekends is asking for trouble!

Bring the wife and kids. They can watch Dad drive his car on the race track. VIR is really nice they even have real bathrooms not Porto Potty's everywhere. You can even camp there if you wanted too, there are showers also. If my Dad doesn't come with the SVO I might camp there. There is a car show for the guys that don't want to run there car on track.

VIR is a blast. Since our 'bird was down after the fire at NJMP we had an n/a 2.3 Mustang for the 24 hours with ChumpCar this year. The high point of my weekend was passing 2 of the 3 V8 Mustangs during my night shift (2-4 a.m.). One of them I passed a second time (I lapped him!). I never saw the third one.
The plan for next year is to have the 2.3t in the Mustang and to have a 3.8 sc in the '88.

Sounds like fun, I doubt my TC will be done though.

You can run anything. It just needs to be safe. Needs good brakes, working seat belts, no leaks.
A daily driver would work. You would need to change the brake fluid to a high temp racing type fluid and good pads. I would also drain the antifreeze out and replace it with water and water wetter. They don't like antifreeze on the track. The last time I went to the track I blew the head gasket halfway through my first session.
The head gasket went out the side of the engine and antifreeze was pouting out of the side of the block. It got
on the rear wheels before I realized what was happening and I almost lost control of the vehicle but I was able to get off the track before I put a bunch down on the track. Plus I would never forgive myself if some else wrecked because I dropped antifreeze on the track. If you blow your motor and oil goes down, there is nothing you can do about that. Plus other people would see your car on the side of the track smoking so they would have some warning. Just takes a little prep and anything can go on track.

I have only used Hi Temp Wilwood and Modul 600 so far. Both seemed to work fine. I only seemed to have trouble with the brakes on the SVO the first time I went to the track. They were smoking after that session that's up on you tube and I wasn't even going that fast. I had hawk pads on the car with the good fluid but I didn't pull the dust shield off so the rotors couldn't get enough air and were getting cooked. That's something else everyone should do if your going to track your car. Pull the dust shield off the brakes on all four corners and running ducts would be even better.
