Hey guys! Working on my 86 TC. Putting my 84 TC engine in it. Does anyone know if they changed TPS’s between years? My 84 had a big connector, it looks like the 86 was smaller.
I’m not sure if I can splice the 84 TPS, into the 86 car harness.

All TPS are electrically identical. If the TPS physically fits, just switch out the connector.

That was the hope. I just wasn’t sure if they changed voltage readings or something in that time.

Jeff,
Maybe you can answer this, is there an extension harness that comes out of the body harness? I have 2 plugs near the TPS AND IAC. And there circular... but there not even close to being right, for connections to the IAC, TPS and EGO

Sorry I cant help you out on that one Chris...... The electrical systems changed significantly between the 83 to 85 and the 86 to 88. I know a lot about the 86-88 electrical systems, but virtually nothing about the 83-86 systems.

The harness might be a different length since the intake changed. I can attest to the intercompatibility of tps, I ran one with a different connector on my 84 by splicing on an old connector. I've since changed to the right one again because parts went on clearance a while back.
