Hey Pete, I'm a newbie and have been spending some time looking thru the archives. The moderators and some members have just an immense amount of knowledge on these cars and have helped me considerably already. Just wondering how long some of you have been involved with TC's ?

Got my TC 4 years ago as a rusted, dented up oil burning POS. It is much better now [Image: smile.gif] Even though I have only had a TC for 4 years, I have been fixing, building, restoring, modifing and destroying cars for about 33 years, 18 years of that mostly messing around with EFI Fords.

I kind of rekindled my interest in Ford 2.3 T when I got the SVO in 1997. I didn't know much about them even though I had a couple turbo fords, not SVOs, through the years. The first was a '79 Turbo RS. It was in about 1998 that I started to get serious in terms of acquiring some actual knowledge. I hung out on a few boards and saved a lot of posts. I got my second TC in 98 after finding out I had no interest in a '94 5.0 Mustang I had acquired. My son's girl friend was nice enough to total the stang out and actually got me more money than I was trying to sell it for.

Oh great! So far I have the longest time spent working on a TC. I've had my TC since 1990. The best advice you can give on these cars is to use Ford parts and DO NOT cut corners. It will always without a doubt come back to haunt you with these cars.

------------------
mods: SDS Digital Fuel Injection, ported & polished big valve head(1.89/1.59), .500 lift roller cam, custom upper and ported lower intakes, 60-1 stage III .63 turbo, powerstroke intercooler, 60mm throttle body, 75pph injectors, Walboro 255HP pump, Kirban adj. fuel reg., ATR header, 3" exhaust with Dynomax Ultraflow muffler, MSD 6al, MSD coil, MSD Launch Control, MSD 8.5mm wires, K&N filter, Star stage III clutch, Greddy Profec B boost controller, Weld Draglites with M/T ET Street 26x11.5/15
NO TC and NO headaches.

Wanted an 87-88 since about '91.

Finally had the chance to "have" one, even though it was an '86. This was around '98 and I helped rebuild the engine in order to get it on the road.

That sealed it.
Maxxed a credit card to buy an '87 two years later, sunk about 3k into it to make it "roadworthy", then traded it and a little cash for the '88 I have now.

And somewhere in between, my father and I have acquired a few parts cars.

I live and breathe this car, it helps keep me sane, even while driving me insane. It keeps me busy, makes me smile, and keeps me out of trouble- most of the time...

And like Glenn said, don't cut corners. Build it right, then downshift, and fly thru'em with a little oversteer! heheh

I had my eye on an '86 since the day my uncle bought it near the end of '85. I convinced him to sell it to me in '94 when I got my license.
