To bore or not to bore

I'm in the process of building my new engine.The #2 cylinder wall has a couple of decent scratches from the ring gap.Would a .030 over bore be advantageous power wise or would a good honing to remove the scratches be sufficient?If overbored would I be safer using oversized pistons or just oversized rings?

the scratches will be the determining factor as to whether you over bore or just hone .First i would see if the scratches will hone out . If they don't then you will have to bore . The most that I would bore it would be 30 over , and then you will definately need to get 30 over pistons. I hope this helps
