I really wanna use the intercooler from the 87 but I also really wanna use my T3 off my 85 motor that's going in the 87. I can't figure out for the life of me how to make this work. Anybody with a 4eyed bird adapted the top mount to their car? Any ideas or suggestions would be helpful. I'm stuck.

I'm sure if you searched you could of found this but, you can have your turbo compressor housing machined to adapt or try to get an SVO compressor housing to put on your turbo.

I made up a adapter but the it IC was to high to close the hood. I ground off the ears so the hose would slide over. You need to get a T-bolt clamp to hold it or under high boost it will leak.

How about relocating the I/C to a front mount?

I tried many times about 6 years ago to get someone to create a piping kit to relocate the existing intercooler, but its never been mass produced. Only a couple guys here have actually done it, but with FMIC kits being so cheap lately, plus more efficient, there hasnt been a need.
Uglybird, you can also buy a round snout of a buick GN thats plug and play and hack the upper tube short and rotate it. been done many times
This is ideal but I already sold it...

There is a SVO one in this picture. The SVO one is ideal because it puts snout in correct direction to.

Lastly you can go to the Merkurclub board and there is a guy who sells a adapter to rotate the snout to correct position and he also sell an outlet adapter(aint cheap)

My 4 eyed bird had an 87 hood and topmount installed, all I did was cut the discharge hose and picked up a rubber hose that connected the two.
Its not the best pic in the world of it but you can see what I did to the discharge tube to make it work:

When adapting a top mount intercooler to 83-86 w/ the taller upper intake you may have to remove the rubber seal that connects the hood with the intercooler or when you close your hood it'll slant to one side.
Good luck
