I wanted to know if anyone had even tried either 235/55/16 or 245/55/16 on the stocker 87-88 Turbocoupe wheels and how did they fit? I don't want them bulgin off the wheel if you know what I mean, but I find the handling of the factory 225/60/16 just horrible!!

You'll find a lot of information on this subject by searching. Long story short: people have tried both 235 55's and 245 50's (there's "no such thing" as a 245 55), but the 245's will buldge a bit. For what it's worth, I'm running 245's out back with no complaints.
If you're unhappy with the current handling of the car, consider upgrading the tire model itself before being concerned about the tire size. Choosing a quality tire will affect the handling MUCH more than an extra centimeter of tread on the asphalt.

245/50 on the rear work fine. They are too wide for the front; you will get some rubbing when the steering wheel is turned most of the way [it rubs on the strut]. The only thing I'd say about having 245's on the back is that it made the car understeer more often rather than the slight oversteer I was used to.

When i bought my car it had 235/55/16 goodyear eagles on it! They looked good. It actually makes it look like it has more meat than it does. Anyone hear of any one ridin on 20's here. Im not thinking about puttin any on my car just wondering if it will fit. I found a set of 20in cobra r's might get for my explorer sport!
88 tc 5sp, Gillis, K&N on vam, Redneck cat back exaust (nothing from the cat back) 220,000 mile short block. Rebuilt 86 head and cam.

i'm running 245/50/16's on the front and rear with the stock wheels with no problems or rubbing

The 245's seem about right, I had 255's (don't recall the sidewall height, but it was pretty big) on mine for a day, the front tires did rub just enough when cornering to see white on the struts from the lettering on the tire. There isn't any difference between the <=86 and the 87/8 in this respect is there? (well, other than the 15 vs. 16" wheels)

i five have 245/50s with no rubbing even after i replaced the rack without an allignment.
