I am having problems getting my car timed, I tired like a dozen times now. I have the A-237 and blue essy adjustable cam gear. I set the cam a billon times and the dizzy pointed at the aux shatf. What gives ?
When I try it it turns and I get some speratic fisfire farts, it has gas and spark atleast [Image: biggrin.gif] Does the A-237 or essy cam gear change anything when it comes to timing, like its 180* off ?

O btw the sparks were gone when I pulled the alt off. 200$$ G3 is probably toast too [Image: mad.gif]

The essy cam wheel does not show the line needed to set the timing. The lines on the wheel have nothing to do with that. I lined up the key hole on the old cam gear and the new Essy one and scribed my own mark to line up for setting the timing. the marks on the wheel are for degreeing the cam only.
NO TC and NO headaches.

I had ignition timing @ 10* with spout out. It ran like garbage and was back firing. Cam was off like one tooth ? Hard to tell my helper broke off my timing marks for the cam off the back of the timing cover [Image: mad.gif] I guess I knew it was gonna be a pain! Does that sound like an A-237 or stock cam off a tooth ? Thanks for all the help so far, I have never done ant cam timing before.

I took off the essy cam gear and noticed that there was some play in it. I threw the stocker back on. I noticed that the crank was rorating when the tensioner was pressed against to get the belt on the cam gear. Took my dear sweet time to get it all lined up. Got the dizzy lined up to the #1 plug on the cap. I finally got it to idle at 1K with the hammer down [Image: mad.gif] Are the stock lash adjusters bad to run with the A-237, like they are holding the valves open and thats why it runs like total garbage ?

Timing is still off probably. My car likes to run at one tooth passed the said timing mark. Never trust a essy cam gear. Take the essy and put it right over the top of your stock gear and mark the timing mark on the essy.

*Update*

I managed to collapse the HLA's on the #1 cyl. Compression test showed 150Psi on all 4 , What gives? Does that prove that the valves are not hanging open a lil bit ?

I have to get new gasgets again! [Image: mad.gif]

If you got 150 psi I would say the valves are not hanging open. What compression were you getting with the HLA pumped up??? I have no experience with the Essy cam gear. I got one from Race Engr that works just great. (you do have to know which marks line up with what, ut once you get that down, it works like a charm [Image: biggrin.gif])
