well today i had a chance to drive a virgin tc lady has owned since new and never upgraded anything,my question is,that while driving the car pulled hard in first gear harder than mine so when pulled it back in i looked under hood seent the ignition module further away from intake than mine this one is closer to fenderwell were as mine is damn close to touching the intake does this mean mine is way to far advanced cause my car is a dog compared to this one was wondering that major question all night now.also my dist has 230,000 miles on it so now would be good time to replace(already have new)? and how would i set5 the timing ? poss cam timing issue also? as far as mods go i have flowmasters for exhaust, and ported and polished intake and stock cam back in now(237 cam sucked) please help thanks in advance

This thread is my favorite as far as explaining how to set timing.

Hope this helps.

wydmotorsports. Somebody has had the distributor out of your car (not the vigin TC) and got it back in in the wrong postion. this is not to say your timing isn't correct.
But being so close to the engine, you have no room for adjustment. When it in the "correct" postion and timed correctly, the TFI module should be pointing at about 3:30 to 4:00, using 4:00 as being the outer (toward fender), front bolt for the upper to lower intake. See the thread Mike posted.

The A237 runs best when that cam is advanced about 4*. It kind of dead below 3K but comes alive after that.
