There's a lot of things that can make noise in th efront end and a few things affecting sloppy steering. If you don't know how to diagnose it, take it to an alignhment shop.

As Pete said, could be lots of thinks... inner and/or outer tie rod ends, ball joints, upper strut mounts, etc, etc. If you arent familiar with front end repair / diagnosis, take it somewhere and have it fixed ASAP!! A ball joint or tie rod end that fails completely (you will get NO warning of the failure) will cause you to completely loose control of the car, which could EASILY kill you and/or other innocent people.

My TC did the same thing. It was the inner and outer tie rods.It is cheaper to just get a rebuilt rack and put on outer tie rods.Do you have any dry type noises. The fox chassis front ends are notorious for this noise with the ungreasable ball joints. You can do a rack/tie rods and ball joints for around $200

If you are going to get any front end work done (i.e. inner tie rods, outer tie rods, etc..) I suggest getting getting one of the polygraphite front end rebuild kits from PST. They have everything you need in one kit and the ball joints have grease fittings. I think it is a good value.
