I've had it this time. Need to take a long break. Really thinking about just walking away from it. I'm sick of the problems every time you touch something. Start out with a simple cam swap and many dollars($$$) later I end up with more problems.

Thinking of selling her. Would be put back to a stock head, eec, injectors and a t3 for the next owner. Should still run low 14's.

I've attempted to sell my car at least 3 or 4 times so far, but something happens each time to convince me to stay with it until I get things worked out. Now that most of the bugs are sorted out, I really coudn't be much happier with the car.

What's wrong with the car now? Is it something that requires even more money to fix, or is it something that can be remedied with a couple nights of wrenching with you and a few buddies? You just have the makings of an incredibly powerful car and I'd hate to see it fall apart if it's just a matter of putting forth a bit more effort. Good luck with whatever decision you make, Glenn.

Imagine this new beautiful Esslinger adj. cam gear connected to your new Esslinger cam. Then imagine the tightened(and double checked) bolts on that cam gear coming loose on the initial test drive and moving all over the place. Then imagine the car not running(doesn't respond to the throttle at all) and some erratic compression readings(110, 110, 125, 90). Once the head comes off I don't think I will have to imagine the bent valves I will find. I really don't feel like looking at it right now.

wow that really sucks. i definitely know the feeling of wanting to walk away from it, but i know you'll regret it down the road. youve got so much time and money in it... the only way youll ever "get back" what you have in it is with the gratification of having it run as awesome as it should once all the bugs are worked out and its dialed in. do what you need to do though.
88 TC 5 spd. T3/T04E 50, RR, ported everything, afpr/255lph pump, big front mount, 3.5" exhaust, alky injection.

I just walked away earlier. I'll go back at it again on Tues. hopefully. I just want to find out what is wrong and then it will most likely sit for a long time depending on what is wrong.

No car=no Carlisle. If I don't get it fixed I don't think I could walk around and be reminded of it all day.

I'm happy to think that inside you know you won't sell it. You're too far into it, way too close. It didn't grenade. Just a couple valves. No holes in pistons it doesn't sound.
Minor details that are a huge setback.
My brother once broke a chain circle dirt racing a Fiesta, during warmup laps, the last race of the season, tied for 2nd overall....
They red flagged the track and made us find the chunks of metal in the mud. I found a rod.

Go have fun at Carlisle telling your story.
