Got a few minor problems fixed on the car, missing bolts, broken parts, even had to fab up a new tranny to cross member mount. But the problem is the motor. No.1. I have an oil leak that I cannot find to fix. I had the motor out and replaced all the gaskets and seals, and even two oil hoses and it still leaks just as bad as it did before. The only gasket that I still have left to change is the head gasket. But this really is not the main problem. No.2. The main thing is when the motor is under a load, full throttle and 18# of boost, when the RPM hits 4K it back fires through the exhaust and bucks like crazy. Now once it gets past about 4700 RPM, the thing pulls like there is no tomorrow. But under no load, or the tires spinning, the motor turns to 6300 with no problems. Now what am I missing? Timing 10* fuel pressure at 42#, and all the rest is stock. I even went so far as to change out the dizzy to see if the PIP had died, same results. It has a new cap and bug, still same results. What the heck am I missing?

A head gasket can leak oil. I'm not saying yours is, but don't rule it out until it's been checked.
Also at the oil cooler between the cooler and the block is a gasket that can leak. It looks like a gasket that comes on an oil filter and that is one place to get a replacement. Hit the parts store and find a filter with the right sized gasket. The oil coolers themselves can rot out but I'm not sure how/what leaks when it rots out.

Usually when the oil cooler rots, you get coolant in the oil / oil in coolant.

FYI, the correct cooler to block gasket is still available from Ford. At least it was 2 or 3 years ago.

Did you try pulling the Spout jumper to see if the problem remains with the timing locked?

I got rid of the oil cooler years ago due to water leaking out of it. As for pulling the spout out, no I have not. I am kind of afraid to do that and then try and wind it up under a load. I really don't want to rebuild another motor, my wife would kill me!

I got back under it today and seen that the entire oil pan is covered in oil...again! I cannot see any leak around the front main (because I just changed it last week). The pan gasket is not leaking, but where it is coming from, I have no idea. I guess that this weekend the head comes off and we sill see if that fixes it.

Every gasket? Including the front timing cover? When you replaced it, did you use the alignment tool? You could change front seals a hundred times, and without the proper alignment, it will leak every time.

Is the oil coming from up top at the front of the engine? If so, did you put thread sealant on the cam bolt when you put the cam gear back on?

Yes, the paper gasket was sealed to the block and to the aluminum cover with silicone. And no, I did not use the alignment tool, I don't have one.

I looked at it again today, and it looks like there is some seepage just under the head right above the t-stat housing. I may have to pull the head again. But it is that **** miss that is really bothering me the most.

What valve cover gasket did you use? When I installed my 95 ranger gasket(Nice black one) I thought I had it lined up perfect, however there was a kink in the front area behind the left side of the cam, allowing lots of oil to spill out.
