thinking about abandoning my project...

I need some ideas and opinions guys! thinking about selling off my turboford stuff and buying/building a 5.0 ranger or explorer. im thinking i can build a 5.0 to be quicker for cheaper, plus it will let me get rid of my other (slow) ranger. am i crazy? should i keep putting my time and money into this force-fed beast? or should i sell it all off, ive got 2 TC's and ton of parts...

i know there's a ton of threads out there asking "what should i do next?" but here's another one. my nice TC is an 87, its in decent shape and has a good solid engine. running stock ihi, stock browntops, stock top mount, 3" downpipe to stock dual 2" mufflers/tailpipes. ive got a good t3 to put on already, but then what? front mount? exhaust? header? i could drop a grand into this car pretty easily, and where is that gonna get me, 300hp?

oh and ive got nothing against this car, just trying to talk things out, trying to get some opinions. i kinda think i could sell both tbirds, all my parts, and my ranger, build a 5.0 ranger and have the best of both worlds with less to insure and keep plates on AND come out ahead as far as the money goes as well...

ive though about it! part of getting rid of the bird means i could also get rid of the truck and downsize my inventory a bit by building something that could take the place of both. ive also thought about using the other tbird as a donor to build a 2.3t ranger, but i kinda hate to bastardize a TC for something like that. somebody offer me a stack of cash for all my turboford stuff, that would make up my mind pretty quick!

You need a Ranchero. Get one from the late 70's, pull the front clip, bolt one on from a '77 to '79 Bird, then you have a Bird/truck. Older, but you're still in the game.

I say do whatever makes you happy, and to hell with what anyone else thinks, or wants you to do. You only live once, might as well live for you. Hell, I'm gonna be throwing a Twin Turbo 4.6 into my bird, after I do the 2.3 thing for awhile. I love the 2.3T as well, but the 4.6 is a superior engine, with a much larger performance aftermarket, and far more bang for your buck. If your a pushrod fan, may as well go big with the 351, even if you have to grow into it, instead of limiting yourself to the 302. As long as it has a Turbo, it's still a Turbo Coupe. Smile
