The turbo ford guy that cried wolf!

Hello All! I know I have said this before and unfortunately I didn't get very far with it Sad However now I have finally got back to the t-bird project after 3 house moves and several other projects that have taken up most of my time I have decided it is time to do something with it.
Now this time I have actually opened my wallet and spent some money, this is further than I got last time around, so I think I have my turbo T-bird mojo back!
This is where I could use some NATO help + advice and pointers:
The car has sat for 8 years (where does the time go?) The car came off the road due to a blown turbo, at that time I pulled off the turbo and exhaust manifold then it sat like that for easily a year or two...I wish I had taken the time to properly prep the motor for this length of time sitting, but I didn't.
Recently I had my local turbo shop re-build a spare IHI that I had and now I'm ready to put it back together. Before I do I wanted to consult the folks of NATO to get some tips on bringing the TC back to life after sitting for so long. I intend on replacing the gas, coolant and oil before I crank it over.
Anyone with other advice? Should I see if it will even crank over before I take the time bolting up the turbo and manifold???
Once it is running again, I will be going over all the systems of the car.
Also, does anyone know the torque specs for the exhaust manifold studs? (manifold to head and turbo to manifold)
Thanks Gents!

Hi Garnet!

Are you going to sand and varnish the 2X4 you used to hold the hood up? Smile

Torque for the exhaust manifold bolts is 16-23 ft/lbs or
22-30 N-m.

Torque for the Turbo to manifold nuts is 28-40 ft/lbs or
38-54 N-m.

Get it finished and come to Carlisle.....just don't pull the hood release while on I-81 eh! Confusedhocked:

Dan, would you believe me if I said that the hood is now able to support it's own weight!!! LOL and I think we even re-installed the safety latch this time Tongue
If I can get it running over the winter I will be in for a trip to Carlisle. I`m sure they are due for an unauthorized TC smoke show!
THANKS FOR THE TORQUE NUMBERS!
I will keep my progress posted on the board!

Cheers!
