I love this car so much!! I try and look under the hood at least once a week usually on the weekend, but that is going to come to a halt here really quick. since I bought it in september I put 265$ over what I paid for it just today with new tires, those damn tires are expensive, douglas touring 80,000 mile, man when I got home and told the wife she laid into me real good, and now I have to put a litle more time into the wife if ya know what I mean... Got to keep the wife happy to keep the car [Image: biggrin.gif]

The trick is to justify it to your wife in terms of cost-benefit. As far as the cost, I have about $2,500 tied up in the Tbird, at most, including purchase price. I could think of another $500 at max that it would really need or probably be a good idea over the rest of the year for continued safe and comfortable driveability. (Not performance, just driveability.) So, over a two year period, the car will have cost $3,000, or about $125 a month. If I were to buy a new Kia or Hyundai or whatever the cheapest car possible is, my payment would be higher. So, even with repairs, owning the TC is cheaper than buying a new one. Even if the car continually needs the $125 in repairs, it comes out cheaper. And as far as repair bills on later-model used cars, the repair costs on the TC are lower than a newer front wheel drive car that has been paid off, since the TC is easier to work on. There is also insurance savings, since full-coverage isn't needed.

As far as benefits, it has all of the options of a new car except cup holder. So, it is a good idea economically to have the TC instead of a different car.

So, since we get the same benefits (options) at a lower total-cost-of-ownership, it makes a lot of sense to have a TC instead of a newer car. Since the options are all there, it makes sense to have the TC instead of an older car.

By the way, this is the justification I used to convince the wife that we needed to sell the 94 Corsica and buy a 85 XR7 and repair parts. There are times that a business degree really comes in handy.

So right, Mike.... when the wife starts bitching about my car parts and expenses, all I have to do is remind her that the average amount I spend each month on all 3 of my cars combined is less than the monthly payment on her leased Windstar that she just HAD to have. I then remind her that next year, when the lease is up, I will still have 3 good (but old) cars I put the money into, and she will have nothing. That usually keeps her quiet until the next UPS box of car parts shows up!

$265.00, oh how I wish! I have about $4500.00 in mine and it still needs body work and a paint job. Quick, I need some major excuses for the wife! [Image: biggrin.gif] I know a divorce would eat up all the money for the TC and that would be a crime!:rolleyes"
