Announcing the first ever event of the Lake Erie Region's "Tour of Birds"! Join us all on Sunday, July 20th. From Swans to the White Turkey, all birds (TCs that is...) are welcome to join in a day of scenic, interesting, and enjoyable times cruising some local sites near the shores of Lake Erie. Total tour length is only 42 miles from start to finish! For anyone desiring to camp-over, there is loads of room at my place not far from the tour route.

1. The meet-up: Just 4 miles from Ohio and 1 mile from Lake Erie - Spend some time at a farm in extreme Northwestern PA, touring a few very interesting collections - A record setting toy tractor collection by the 2nd inductee to the toy tractor collector's "Hall of Fame" (yes... for real!!); A milk bottle collection that is sure to amaze; Several antique full-sized tractors; Some swans raised for breeding; and a picnic lunch!
NOTE: I will need an RSVP list to plan for lunch (I will supply a grill and burgers/dogs/sausages - cruisers can volunteer to bring sides, drinks and desserts). RSVPs will get directions e-mailed to the Meet-up point.

2. All cars will then take a drive across the "Longest Covered bridge in the U.S." (Can you say awesome photo opportunity?!?!) while heading for a local cruise-in on the shores of Lake Erie in NE Ohio's Ashtabula's Lakeshore park! I assure you, showing up with a dozen Turbocoupes will turn a whole lotta heads and will be the talk of the show!!

3. Finishing up the evening, a short drive back over to Conneaut, OH, to visit the White Turkey Drive in - a Rootbeer/icecream/food stand that has been around since 1952! White Turkey Drive-in

(Point to note - In August, Conneaut is also the host to the largest D-day re-enactment in the US - over 1100 actors!)

So please, indicate if you are coming to this fine event! It will surely give you a great conversation topic for some time!

OK, we are a week away!!! We need responses now for planning purposes. Mike, Pete, RJ, Steve, and many others that are within short drive... are you "in"? The grillin food is on me, side dishes appreciated, but not critical. Hoping to have 8-10 TCs for the Lakeshore Park car show. If by some chance it rains, the event can still go on if cars show up. 1 or 20 cars, we'll still tour!

So far I can account for Eric +(5); Brandon +(4-6); Dan +(1); Pete +(1); Marty +(?), myself +(4). Remember, although a NATO associated event, it's about the people getting together and enjoying a good time, not exclusive to the Turbocoupes or cars... Come along even if your car can't make it! But man!... I hope we can get a NATO calendar picture at the covered bridge or elsewhere!! Food details and directions coming as soon as I get all replies, so if you'd like to join us, reply by Thursday 7-17, so those bringing food can plan. Hope to hear from you soon!

Just for the record, "We had a blast" on the "Lake Erie Tour of Birds". Paul and his family were gracious hosts for the event. We toured a wonderful collection of Agricultural Toys, Milk Bottles and related Dairy Toys / items, along with a nice picnic out by the pond gazebo. We then made a caravan the of 5 TC's accompanied by 2 very late model GTO's (one was twin turboed), to the Longest Covered Bridge in the U.S.. After a photo op at the bridge, we headed to the Sunday Car Show at Lakeside Park. Nice to see 5 TC's lined up among all the street rods and custom cars. After the show, we visited the "White Turkey Drive-in" for a little more time together and good snacks. Many heads were turned when the TC caravan drove by or stopped. :happydance:

A "Great Big Well Done" for Paul and his family for the wonderful time.

If you have other TCer's in your area or State, get them together and do something similar. We all had a fun time together, sharing the experience. You will also, and it's a terrific way to meet others in the NATO family.
:pimp:
