Thank you Ford

This past Friday, my oldest daughter tested the rollover capabilities of our '03 Escape. Thankfully, she came out without a bruise or scratch. The same can't be said for the car, but that is all right. The pictures my wife sent me (I was out of town for work) reminded me of the Excursion I was in when it was rolled 3 times on the way to Bristol. So thank you Ford Motor Company, for building exceptionally safe vehicles and keeping my family in one piece.

Whoa man - really glad to hear she's safe and was obviously wearing her seat belt! When I was a Volunteer Medic I got to see more than once what can happen to an un-belted passenger in a rollover!

Glad to hear your daughter is OK, Bill. A car can be replaced, a daughter cant.

IMO, Ford has always built some tough and safe cars. When my daughter was 17 (she is 24 now), she got rear ended at 35 mph in the POS 91 Topaz I had bought her for her first car. She and her friend walked away without a scratch, and the car was still drivable, but 2 feet shorter. My daughter even drove it for another few months. I did have to replace 2 tail light bulbs. The Toyota that hit her was a complete mess.

In 04, a guy (suspended license, no insurance) pulled out onto a highway even though he couldnt see oncoming traffic at all. My wife hit him at 45 mph in her 01 Taurus. Taurus totaled, but she walked away with a sore knee. The guy she hit had to be hauled away by the medivac helicopter.

Finally replaced the Escape earlier this week with an '89 Buick Reatta. I think I got a pretty good deal on it ($1500 with 132k miles). The wife wasn't exactly ecstatic about it only being a two-seater. That is what she gets for demanding "no more Thunderbirds"! But for now it is dependable transportation that gets decent gas mileage. I just hate that I ended up with a GM product...
