I have an 88 TC that the PO replaced the distributor TFI module with some aftermarket one.
I have another TFI from an early 90's 5.0L mustang. Will this TFI work on the TurboCoupe?
Mustang Motorcraft TFI part number is: E3EF 12A297 A2A
According to RockAuto, the TurboCoupe Motorcraft TFI part number is: E6SF 12A297 A2A
Any help would be great

All TFIs from any EEC IV Ford are basically the same. The only difference I have ever heard (but havent tested personally) is that one version allows for push start on manual cars, and the other doesnt. The TC TFI isnt anything special.... the Stang one you have will work just fine.

Great! Thanks Jeff. I did see something on the RockAuto site about Manual vs. Automatic. The push start thing makes sense.

I just replaced the TFI. All I can say is WOW! What a difference that made!
The other one was some Made in Hong Kong junk. It was put on with only one screw and had dielectric grease between it and the distributor.
Needless to say... I replaced it with the Genuine Motorcraft TFI and put the correct heat-sink insulator stuff on it. And the car does not mysteriously stumble like it used to. Plus, the throttle response seems 20 times better. Boost is almost instant.
Very nice! Thanks for the help Jeff.
