well, after 2 years and over $16,000 my 427 Clevor is in the assembly room at Ford Strokers. I was going to put this engine in my 78 Cobra II and drag race it. After checking out standing mile events like the Texas mile, I am seriously thinking of putting my 88 turbocoupe on a major diet, and sticking the stroker in it. Engine HP is supposed to be around 800 (over 1,000 on the bottle) flywheel, going with a Holley Dominator ECM, coil on plug, 36-1 crank trigger, G-Force 101A transmission. I read the drag coefecient on the 83 birds was 0.35? Would anyone know what it is on the aero birds? I am trying to figure out gear ratios, tire sizes, weight, etc. Goal is 200+ MPH club. So far all the cars I see listed are 2011+ mustangs, Vettes, GTR's etc. I would like to show up with a nearly 30 year old car, and make some serious speed! My bird is really in bad enough shape that a resto would be too much work, so the body is a rust free New Mexico car, good platform for a speed racer! any parts I remove will be sold here, before you guy's give me too much crap, I would be better off finding a nice car for a daily driver, like I said, my bird is pretty much "cooked" If I had not spent the money on the stroker, I would have been tempted to build up the 2.3 turbo engine and go for broke! ps the $16,000 is just the long block and intake, still need another $5-6,000 to finish the engine, and $6,000 trans, $3-4,000 rear and suspension, tires, etc. By the time the car is done I should have $30,000+ in it, maybe thats why everyone just shows up with a new car that runs 200 with a tune!

Well, ran into some issues with the Jessel shaft mount rockers, ended up waiting another 6 months to get it straightend out and added another $3,000, but long block is sitting in my shop. Now I am looking at ways to put the bird on a serious diet. I have googled, and searched everywhere to try and find fiberglass body parts with no luck! Scott rods makes fiberglass front clips, hood, rear deck, doors, bumpers, etc for the Mustang II, so as everyone puts these cars down, there is a demand for fiberglass parts for them. Why not the Thunderbirds? Seems as the 89 and up have aftermarket support, but the "Aero birds" are like red headed step children, no aftermarket support what so ever! I found Bob Gliddens old 87 NHRA pro stocker just sold s a roller for $20,000, I wish I would have seen it sooner, it was set up for a BBC, but still looked just like it did back when he raced it! Would have saved me all the work and trouble of building a car!

There are few pro stockers as great looking as Bob Glidden and Matt & Debbie's T-birds!!!
