for an aftermarket gauge? And Im guessing you want the use of your stock gauge as well.
Take a look at my webshots link I made an adapter to go into the Heatercore hose line to install my Autometer sending unit. It will be under the turbo coupe pics

other people have done different things, become imaginative. You could also make a bung to weld onto the stock Tstat housing or something. Just make sure the water flow is passing the sender.

I did it the same way that trashline did. It works great and wasnt very hard to install.
