I've been sittin' on this parts car for almost a year(front end beat to death - but motor still good, auto trans - no forward gears, just reverse), was going to build up the motor for when mine dies.
The kids Ranger motor took a crap so he's thinkin' since I haven't done anything with the parts car.....
Know of anyone who's done the swap? Is it straight up, or way to envolved?

You got a good year for the swap, both for looks and the wiring.
The motor is straight swap and the wiring should be not too hard. They are both eec IV.
I have the next generation Ranger and I don't want to tackle it.
Driving my TC then my truck is annoying, knowing they are basically the same motor.
But yah, go for it. You should be fine.

Thanks Gary, know of any good Ranger sites? Is the trans(T-5) the same as the TC's T-5, and isn't the Ranger a 7.5 rear end?

The Ranger uses a different tranny, mine is an M5 (mazda), not sure what 92 was.
The rear end is 7.5" but that should be ok if it's in good condition.
I would baby the trans or change to T-5 or C4 auto.
There are a few sites,
