Ok I have a NOS switch plate cover for a TC looks it has dual power seats/mirrors/and windows just like any other normal TC switch plate but with one difference in between the seat controls is a slot opening ( looks like a dial type switch , like on the dimmer for headlights or a rocker switch possibly) anyone know what it is for ? the OEM # is e5sz-6304722-k I did a search for the same OE number but can only find G and E no K , Thinking this maybe for earlier TC or Thunderbird with some off the wall option

That is where the status / warning light for the optional alarm system would go. I think the alarm system was discontinued in 87, so that plate is from 86 or earlier.

Bill, do you have a picture? Are you selling it or just curious? Either way, I'd like to see a pic, if possible. Thanks, Mike.

For sure 86 or earlier...... note the PW switch labels.... the UP and DOWN are switched compared to the 87-88. I got so annoyed with the way the PW switches worked on my 86 that I rewired the switch so pushing them toward the rear makes the windows go down and pushing toward the front makes the windows go up, which makes much more sense (at least to me).

Makes more sense to me too!very irritating.I was going to reverse the switch, but of course they only go in one way.I'm not the greatest with electrical, so it will probally stay like that...very good idea though.

Actually I went the other way....I had a 85 XR7 and when I got my 88 T/C I thought the PW switches were backwards.....especially since the switches were on a slope....when you push the switch down, the window should go down, not up. I re-wired mine to match the 85 XR7. I guess it depends on one's thought process....to me I am pushing the switch down, not forward....

I too think the '86 orientation makes more sense. By mistake I got a slightly better plate out of an '88 and didn't notice the reversal until I had it installed. I left it that way as after 20 years that's the way my hand works.

W Jameson, if you want to sell the item, let me know via PM.
