Tapping vacuum lines

Since I added the Gillis Valve, with it's new vac line, I have been thinking. I am about to install a dual piston BOV, and an aftermarket Boost gauge. Is it ok, to reference these extra items off of the new line I put in for the gillis? I know that I can't between the valve and the wastegate, but between the vac tree, and the gillis itself? I am thinking It would be OK, I just am not certain. and the new line, the way I routed it, does go very close to the future location of the BOV, making it very handy.

So much better to work with brand new vac lines instead of old ones.
Current Turbo Car, 1985 5 speed TC. TC intercooler,87 TC hood, 3 inch down pipe, cat delete with 3 inch tailpipe, K&N cone, T3, Gillis, Dual piston BOV.

me and several others run the boost controller directly off the compressor housing..... that would allow you to use the new line for your other items....
88tc (sold) but keeping an eye out.

^^^^^ Same here. That way I have a dedicated vac line to my BPV.

Ok, I did not know that I could do that. So, I can draw vac from the port on the compressor side of the turbo, for the Gillis? The one I blocked off when I installed it??

Actually I think the stock boost control solenoid drew its vac from their (the compressor)? But I installed the valve exactly as-per the included instructions. Which specified using the Vac Tree on the firewall.

I may clean that up then! But, COULD I, run the Gillis, Boost gauge, and BOV of the same line?

You don't get (much) vacuum from the compressor side of the turbo. What is gotten is a direct from the source boost signal which is what the Gillis needs as a signal. The boost control valve doesn't care about vacuum, only responds to positive pressure.

I understand what your saying Pete.. One more question. Will the change effect where I have the gillis now set at?

In Essence, will the change in line routing, change the boost level from where I have it now set? Or will I need to dial back the boost a bit and "work it back up" to where I want it?

OR

When I change the lines, will the boost still be limited where I have it set?

There is always a pressure drop across the IC and piping, so if you change the Gillis reference from the vac tree to the comp outlet, it will boost to a LOWER pressure since it wont be sensing the pressure drop any more. Might have to tighten the Gillis up a bit to get boost up to your previous level.

OK! Got it all hooked and "plumbed" up so to speak. I really had to trim the "T" I got from Stinger's too hook up a BOV to a stock style top mount IC set up. I also changed the vac line routing to the Gillis too one that draws it's reference from the compressor side of the turbo.

Almost all good! LOL sounds like a cat fart when I shift now car is running a little sluggish, but I figure that it is a very minor vac leak somewhere or plugs have got a bit fouled from all the poor running(pig rich)the past month of testing and setting up. Not too worried about it.

I have the BOV plumbed straight to the vac tree, as suggested. My Boost gauge will be here Friday. I plan on "T"ing off the line to the BOV for it. If I should not do this, or if someone has a better suggestion, please let me hear it before I go to cutting and splicing!

The gauge I got also has a "vac" side, it is not a pure boost gauge, if it was I would plumb it to the "turbo" side of the gillis
