I removed the auto tranny and replaced with a T5.Did the entire pedal swap too. I bought a 5 spd tranny harness and I noticed that it all looks the same with the acception of the 2nd portion that plugs into the trans. Cant I just use that section and plug it into existing trans harness? (the section leading to area behind dash)

How many wires does the plug have ?
You know when I pulled my carpet (which is still out by the way) I noticed a small wiring harness that comes through the Trans Hump next to the Gas Pedal. I think its the Reverse Lights but I may be wrong. My car is a '87 but I could check if you want me to. It just got done sleeting and raining so its messy outside currently.

The plug wires that go into the harness are exactly 4 wires just like the one that is already going through the hump.

1) I would like to know the exact location of where it plugs in?
2) Do I really have to swap the entire cable?

RDOG,
My '87 has 6 wires. Although it appears to be coming from a 4 wire loom in the tight rapped harness, the further you follow the harness the wires begin to exit the tape rap. It then exposes 6 wires. Here are the colors.
1) Pink or purple looking wire with / orange stripe
2) Black / purple or pink stripe
3) White/ pink stripe
4) Green / Blue
5) Orange / No stripe that I could see
6) Red / Blue stripe

The plug is near the gas pedal. Lower, rear outer corner of the radio dash panel just behind the System Sentry. If you reach your hand just above the carpet where the radio dash panel is hanging you'll feel a plug about 3 inches long (6 wires)on one side only (Trans Side). The other side has several more wires (12). Its got Fords infamous snap clips that always break when you try to pull it apart. When I pulled my carpet I think this is the harness that required me to cut a small slit so I could get the carpet out of that area/ Its routed through a hole in the carpet I believe.
From there , I can't see where the wiring harness goes. It routes behind the dash too far for me to see it.
There are a series of serial numbers on a piece of tape in this order:
E7SB-AD
10D954
F873-7C

That is the only wiring harness I seen coming through my Trans Hump. Hope this helps.
Good luck

SORRY I EDITED THIS ABOUT 7 TIMES. I JUST WOKE UP. THATS HOW IT IS WORKING 3RD SHIFT. FINAL EDIT TIME- 8:18pm
