Only experience I have with turbo's has been with diesels. Thinking of a Garrett because that sounds familiar. When I make up my mind about this I will definitely look into perf - tech. Thank you for the advise. bobbymac

Hope this is the right forum to be on? Did not realize you were a moderator. Thank you for your attention to my ever changing quest for mo-power. lol
Understand the difference between .48 and .63 T3 turbos thanks to Pete D.
Finally found some answers on - installing a T3 on my 88tc. More complicated then I had thought.
As for mods - started with performance mods for beginners. As for the cold air thing I figured what cold would be colder then air to the filter coming from the fender well? Maybe out side in front of the grill? At anyrate the KN is in the air filter container.
Thats about it. At this time I believe there is no simple drop in or bolt on T3 turbo for our TC's. IE, no easy way to get into the 13's. LOL bobbymac

What?! There are guys here who have gone into the 13's with an IHI. The turbo is not the fix all.

A T3 swap is super simple. If you want it to be suoer easy, get an SVO T3 with water line along the valve cover, in and out water line, and oil return. It is a direct swap. You can even re-use the snout of your IHI.

The only modification needed would be elongating the holes in the stock downpipe flange which takes 15 minutes with a drill. If you need help the install feel free to hit me up, and I will walk you through it.

Have done some searching and can not find a new SVO T3. Do they even make them anymore or are they rebuilds or just wanna be's?
Would love to get one if the swap is as easy as that. bobbymac

Well Bobby

If you are not going to do the supporting mods....ie bigger exhaust, 3" downpipe, cone filter on vam, possible fuel pump,

He saying stick with the IHI, it can perform well with just a couple of mods. The T3 or SVO T3 will take you alot farther, but how many mods are you going to do your mint TC???

Travis

Hence what I posted in a different thread. Im all about making a car your own...but yours is so clean and super low miles...I would start over on alot cheaper TC....to mod with. JMHO

Maybe if I keep it short I wont lose the reply?
Went to PT. Inter cooled IHI upgrades -- If I replaced my IHI wheel with an after market would that make it close to T3 output with stock exhaust, stock vam etc? Say 25 psi boost?

When I installed the twin gillis manual boost control did I bypass the stock over boost shut down? bobbymac
