T-5 Transmission rebuild

I recently completed a complete rebuild of my T-5 after 227,000 plus miles. It did not like to stay in first when I took off. I wound up replacing the 1-2 slider, 1st gear and the reverse slider. Was an amazingly easy transmission to rebuild. You just need a press and a few pullers to do the big stuff. All together I spent about $425 on the transmission parts and gears and another $350 for a starter, flywheel and clutch assy.
The car starts so much easier and shifts like a charm. The only issue I had was the fact that the rebuild kit had the wrong input shaft bearing in it. So I went to the local parts store and bought a Timkin bearing for under $10.00

The kits come with a 5.0 input bearing, it is smaller than the 2.3 bearing...

Sorry Adam I'm sold out, only have my keepers and a parts car... They are getting hard to find at the auctions, and I ain't paying $600-$800 for a POS that I could get at auction for next to nothing...

The nice '87 I had went to Newfoundland, new owner is tickled to have a 19 year old Bird that is 99.9% rust free. Up there they have 1-2 year old cars with more rust.

Glad you mentioned the ease of which the rebuild went. Where did you get your rebuild kit from? Or did you just replace what looked bad? I was going to order the Harlon non world kit but first get the video although it's for a world class rebuild. I've gone through several engines but this will be my first tranny. Any advice you can give me like stop reading and just do it? Will I need any referance material like the manual? Thanks
83 dead bird, in pieces however I'm reading from the book of the dead, should be running soon.
