I have a dead 84 TC, the turbo looks and feels good, I'm sure it will but just wondering if I can put it on my 88 the different fittings should be able to come right off the 84 block...or not. also does anybody know if the IHI is a ball bearing turbo or a journal, I might just buy a rebuild for it, its sucking in coolant and oil.
I love my V8's but my T-bird Chews!

I've been researching this and there is loads of info on this site if you use the search function. Also a good writeup in the tech articles section.

Yes very good article, I have read it, still I am wondering is the fitting on the block the same for both vehicles if so I shouldnt have to buy different fittings the ones on the 84 should work on the 88, and is the IHI turbo a ball bearing or a journal

Thanks

The t3 uses a different return line than the ihi. so just use the t3's return line, should thread into the block the same.

Your also going to have to do some adaption for the coolant lines. The IHI uses smaller diameter stuff and both lines go to the same side of the turbo, not opposing sides like the T3
