Have been thinking - if I don't sell my turbo coupe this year I might swap the 2.3 for a carborated 302 and go racing. If I include a turbo will It be accepted as a turbo coupe on this sight? bobbymac

Well I've been tolerated for a while now and mine has been turboless for longer than it was boosted... I did my first swap in '99 and am in the middle of number two, you should be OK...

Till a year or so ago I did have a real TC around, but all that's left is a parts car and it's about to be stripped out...

Well - technically it's still a Turbo Coupe whether it has a turbo motor in it or not.

You will not be shunned for swapping out the motor if that's what you mean. But you will only be allowed to post in the Off Topic forum afterwards Confusedtickpoke: ...... J/K! Smile

Unless one changes the VIN(highly illegal), that's very true...

Guess I can handle the off topic forum. Would never change the VIN.
If I ever get my ad right maybe I will sell it this year? If so I guess I'll just have to get use to the off topic forum. Have always enjoyed this sight and would not want to give it up. bobbymac

Just in case it was unclear - I was joking about the whole Off Topic forum thing.

I have always wanted to put 2 IHI's on a 5.0L just cause, you could always look into that! Not saying that's the best option, but figured I could get a 5.0 relatively cheap and have 2 IHI's waiting for something fun ha. I think someone in florida did it with a 351.

I knew there was a reason I liked this club - "The sense of humor from real people."

As for twin turbos. I was thinking more of the kind that is belt driven hanging off the front on an engine. I think it is called a turbo, or is that a kind of super charger? Its kind of old school. The air pressure goes through the carburetor.
I do believe I would have started my swap already if I had built that two car garage I wanted when I retired. Problem was, they just don't build a two car garage for ten grand anymore. And, they had little sense of humor when I offered them ten grand to build it..... LOL

A belt driven boost device is a Supercharger, a exhaust driven unit is a Turbocharger...

Once you've driven a vehicle with a Roots type Supercharger(see link) it's hard to live with a turbo waiting to spool... The turbo guys will bust in and claim free HP but in reality the turbo creates a large exhaust restriction that limits max power(as compared to same boost not spinning a compressor)...
