Suggestions on Coilovers?

I'd love to get my Turbo Coupe a bit lower, i'm keeping the original Snowflake wheels as I love the look but want to drop her an inch or two. I know that there aren't any companies that make exact coil overs for the 87-88 T-Bird however I would love to know if any one has had any experience with using coil overs meant for a different car that only required minor changes to fit. Have the stock 16x7 Snowflake wheels and nothing done to the car that would change the stock weight.

Ryan,
I also looked into installing coilovers for my 88, but went with new Koni's and springs front and rear. I started out using 04 Mustang GT convertible springs all around, 1 coil cut in the front and spacers for the back as Mustang springs are shorter, it sat very nice, but the Mustang rear springs were too soft for our heavier Birds. I swapped them all out for new BMR SP-028 springs in the front and new Moog CC821 springs in the back. You can see all the details in the links below. My final set up is the BMR's in the front with new ISO's, Moog CC821 in the back with Maximum Motorsports adjustable control arms in the back. the control arms are not really needed, and if you use your factory control arms, your back will sit about .25-.5" lower than mine.

Thanks so much for these links, seeing your process of lowering yours is helping a lot. Your Tbird looks great at that height and i'll be copying your set up almost exactly haha. I have a bit of cash saved up so I don't mind getting the maximum control arms, as a i like the adjustability.
