I'm not getting spark. I have a new battery, coil, rotor, cap, ign. switch, lock cylinder, starter sel., motorcraft wires, motorcraft plugs. All has been replaced and I am not getting power to the coil. The engine cranks and i have fuel pressure, i'm just not getting any electricity anywhere. Everything else has power, such as lights, interior stuff. All fuses are new (that i can find). Only suggestion I have is that it is a "fuseable link" somewhere under the coil which he couldn't locate (he's a 5.0 guy) ANY suggestions at all would help. Thanks for any input.

Check fuse link H, 20 gauge blue. It's near the ignition sitch and should have Red/ Light green strip wire on both sides as well as BR/PK wire on the ign. switch side. The other side goes to the coil. This is for an 88.

What kind of shape is the ignition switch in? The coil gets its 12V fed directly from the ignition switch. There is no fuse between the ignition switch and the coil, just a fuse link, as Pete said.

Guys, correct me if I'm wrong, but he wouldn't get spark if the timing belt was broken...right?
Have you checked the coil plug for resistance?

Tim, you are correct. He also wouldn't get it if the dist. gear is stripped. I think the EEC also has to get a signal from the dist. or it won't fire the injectors. The fuel pump would still pressurize the system, just the injectors won't fire.

Mike said he isnt getting power to the coil, which I take to mean no 12V in run/start at the coil pos terminal.... I hope he didnt mean 12V at coil but no spark!

Pete - just got home from work, it's pitch black, and i'm tired so i'll attempt the find the fuse link H, 20 gauge blue tommorow. As for the timing belt - brand new and a-ok. The distributor gear - checked out ok when i installed it in august - the car hasn't ran since august (i've completely rebuilt it, and due to frustration, i'm just now fidding with it again) but the dist. gearing should be fine. The injectors - not sure if they're firing or not, but the rail is pressurized. Not that it matters since there's no spark. As for the coil, it is the 3rd one we've tried (and it's brand new) and it's not getting power at all. Nada. I'm not sure how or why i would check it for resistance? Any help there would rock. Thank you guys so much for all you're help and i'd send you a christmas card if i wasn't so broke. [Image: smile.gif]

It is an '88 and mostly stock, and if anyone remembers, the battery has been installed backwards - if this helps with suggestions. Thanks again. Rock on.

edit - jeff k - the ignition switch and lock cyl. are both brand new also. speaking of which, does anyone know where i can the "proper" tool to remove the godawful screws holding the ign. switch to the steering column? thanks again felluz
Mike
