Craftsman 1/2" drive stud removal tool, number 4458 P. This is the best tool I have found for removing the turbo studs from the exhaust manifold or any stud on the engine for that matter. It can also be used to install the studs if your careful and to remove bolts that have broke, provided there is enough of the bolt left sticking up for it to get a bit on...Tommy

wow that is cool. im gonna have to pick one up. not sure what that P is for but i searched craftsman.com and it only used the 4458 number here is a link to it.

That's it. That is a handy little tool. The P is on the end of the number on the tool and apparently is not part of the part number...Tommy

I have used NAPA's version of that same tool. Actually worn a couple of them out on exh manifold studs. It is the best thing I have found. You do need to place it on the threads where it doesn't matter if they get screwed up because it will (seriously) harm the threads. Still need to use the PB Blaster presoak and lots of heat helps

Those tools do work pretty well. I have used them on exhaust manifolds as well.

hmmm maybe i could use that to get the leftover studs out of the uni-body of my 91 thunderbird. my buddy has a torch. maybe good heat and that tool will do the trick. that would make me happy as can b! anyone have any input for me??
