A couple days ago after a high speed run, a problem developed where the motor would go full lean under boost. The fuel pressure was 41lbs. I was about to run fuel system diagnostics when I got the bright idea to raise the fuel pressure up to 50lbs. That fixed the problem so I turned it back down to 41lbs and the problem is gone. No more leaning out under boost. My question...does it sound like a piece of trash got somewhere in the AFPR and blocked flow and making the FP adjustment loosened the garbage?
The pump is about 2yrs old and I fear the check valve might be bad because the FP drops at a pretty alarming rate after the motor is shut off.

Which FPR are you using? The rapid bleed down is common with Kirbans, even new. Its the one thing I don't like about them. The first one I received would bleed down immediately. The replacement was okay at first but within the first year it also developed a rather quick bleed down. Since it maintains fuel pressure when the pump runs I've stopped worrying about it. But it is possible the check valve in the pump is bad.

Its a Kirban. Yeah, fp holds perfect when the pump is running. After you shut it down...there goes the fuel pressure!

Kirban's can bleed down quicker as Robert states. It's even mentioned in the article on fuel system diagnostics.

That Can be good for troubleshooting and changing fuel filter though. Not having to bleed the pressure off to do anything. LOL.
