Do you guys have a check/schrader valve in the fuel line under the hood just before the dampner? My car was shutting off under load and its because I was loosing pressure due to the lines leading in and out of this valve were leaking.

Check it out....

I removed dampner and shrader valve and all is good. I didnt know that the fuel lines were shrink style tubing. I took my daughters hair dryer and heated the lines to remove the valve and also to install a straight barbed type fitting in its place.

I would bet someone added that at some point. I've never seen a TC with one...

Never seen any Ford with a brass fitting like that in the fuel line.

I just got two responses on turboford and they have that same check valve by the firewall.

My 86 has it. It's just another schrader valve. Mine developed leaks around the fittings and I cut it out and put the hose back on the ends. It can be used to monitor fuel pressure also as it's in the high pressure line. It's away from a hot engine and can be used to more safely bleed off fuel pressure if needed.

Sounds just like how my 84 has been since I bought it! Line comes out near the vac tree, through a schraeder valve, goes into a "fuel pulse dampener" (Bosch p/n) that's free floating and hangs by the master cylinder, then on into the fuel rail. I've always thought both looked suspicious but never had courage to mess with them. Used the schraeder once to relieve pressure before changing the fuel filter, that was convenient haha.
