Is stop leak especially bad in these cars. Does it do anything to the turbo? (86 T3)

I had to work on a mid 80s cavalier that someone put stopleak in and it ruined the ect sensor and caused it to run hot and over heat all the time. If you do run some sort of stop leak, make sure its sensor safe!

What exactly is the problem? I would find the leak & fix it before putting that stuff in. They sell a dye you add to the system to detect an oil, freon, or coolant leak. One you identify it, then you should correct it .

Ive tried using it to stop up a leaking heater core to no avail. Looks like a heater core install is in store this winter along with the fifty other things the cars needs.
