Okay I was wondering what is the difference in a stock speedo and a 140. Besides the numbers? Is it mechanical or electrical? would it just be a matter of changing some resistors, or are the spring mechanisms different?

It's a Plug and Play as far as I know. Take the Stock Cluster out...put the 140 speedo in.

Are you thinking of making a stocker read to 140? The T-birds use an electronic guage, and the amount of components in that little thing are amazing.

Hey, the easier way is to just replace the speedo itself instead of the whole cluster. I did it and works fine. Easy swap too.

yes i know the swapping, I have bothi was just curious if the difference was something as simple as a resistance value, or far more intricate like the mechanisms themselves. Cause if it was just resistance values it would be easy enough to change i just didn't want to take my 140 back out to see. guess i will sometime though

It can't be as simple as "plug -n- play". You have to get it recalibrated right? Other wise the needle would point in the same direction but the gauge would lead you to think you're going faster. Am I way off base here? Is the "calibration" factor or the gears in the actual speedo? [Image: confused.gif]

You just take the 85MPH Speedo out of your cluster and install the 140MPH. Simple as that. Check this out.

tylerport, that looks awesome! Is there a part number for that speedo or a brand name so that I can get one. Does anyone have this info? Wow.

I do not have a part number for the 140MPH Speedo. I know it is no longer made, however. I found mine on eBay, I'd suggest looking there. Every once in a while, someone will post on NATO in the For Sale Forum that they have one. Good Luck!
