stock snowflake offset?

My buddy has a set of 4 lug Cobra rims that he will not be using due to a 460 swap into his Mustang. What is the offset of our wheels? I'd like to use these, but our cars sometimes seem to be so specialized that I thought I'd ask all the guru's out there.

Thanks!

Darryl

I think it's 4x4.25. If I'm wrong, someone will correct me. [Image: smile.gif]

I'll correct you. I need the BACKSPACING measurement, not the bolt pattern, and it will be a metric mumber.

Thanks, tho.

I've been researching the board (and other sources) for wheels for my 87. I *think* the backspacing of our original 87/88 snowflakes is 5.25". At least that's what I have written down.

Your best bet is do a search for all applicable terms; that's what I've been doing.

JoeCool is correct, the backspacing for the '87-'88 "snowflake" wheels is 5.25"
The '83-'84 TRX wheels have a 4.375" backspacing and the '85-'86 10-hole wheels are a 5" backspacing.

Sounds like you are talking about the '93 Cobra wheels. These wheels are supposed to have more backspacing much like the '84-'86 SVO did which was 5.65", but I have never been able to measure one to verify what the backspacing is on the '93 Cobra wheel.

BCA... where did you get this info from? If you are 100% sure of the figures, I will put this info on the NATO FAQ's Page

I have these wheels sitting in my garage [Image: biggrin.gif] along with a couple sets of non-Turbo Coupe (Mustang, Mark VII, & ASC) wheels.
Yes, they take up too much room, but when I get bored with the look of one of my cars, I just change the wheels. [Image: smile.gif]

I put one of the wheels on the car this morning. 17x9 with 275/50-17's. PERFECT fit. No interference with the quad shock, and looks great.

In case you were wondering, the offset is +17mm. Some websites record it as +18mm, but that's pretty close. I just noticed that no one was able to answer your question. Hope this helps. Also any wheel that you can find with these numbers (offset, and bolt pattern) will fit our cars. I think the universal tire fitting guide for all cars lists the 17X9 as a second option for the 88 TC, and the 18X8 for the 3rd option. I have that guide somewhere, but I'm pretty sure that's what it says. Also, ROH makes rims for our cars, they should have a size guide. Hope this helps anyone.

The offset for STOCK Turbocoupe wheels is +33mm,a +17mm is what you will need for a wheel that is any wider than 7" to fit under our cars without rubbing.

Too much fun, what's that mean? That's like too much boost, there's no such thing.
