I replaced the heater core, and now I get no sound out of the stereo. It turns on, lights up, runs the tape player(!), but no sound. Is there a plug/connecter to the speakers? I have began looking but can't tell if there is one. My fear is that when I pulled the dash aft to get to the heater, I pulled a wire from its connection. Any ideas?

there are 2 connectors on the back of the radio one may have popped off. also there is a wire with a round lug terminal on it that bolts to the stud on the radio back I would bet one of these 2 came off or the lug connected wire broke

Also possible that the plug in the passenger side kick panel has been disconnected. The premium systems utilize a big separate harness that runs from the back of the radio area to the amplifier in the trunk. There is a big junction for the harness in the passenger kick panel. If it is unplugged the symtoms that you mention could exist because the radio would still have power, but the amplifere wouldn't. Hope this helps.

The black plug is the speaker plug. The one that goes to the input of the EQ and then to the amplifier has 3 wires on it. There is another with 8 wires on it tucked away in the dash. Those 8 wires go straight to the speakers and not to the amp. If you plugged that one in by mistake you would get low or now sound.

The connections on the head unit itself are fine. I have pulled it out of the dash already and checked. I am leaning toward the passenger side kick panel, since I removed it to do the core. I get NO sound, so that makes the most sense. I see a flat, black connector that looks like it has 8 or so wires on it, but I have yet to see the other connection, so I'm not sure if I unplugged it or not. I will let you all know what I find out. THANK YOU!!!!!

It was the gray rectangular connection in the passenger footwell. It must have come unplugged when I pulled the dash back, because I didn't do it purposely, and the black fabric behind kick panel wasn't removed or disturbed. I swear this site saves me so much time. I love it!

Thanks again!
