I installed a new rebuilt compressor, and new 134 adapters today. the first can of freon went in easy. The 2nd can wouldn't go in and the AC clutch would not kick on. Its doing exactly what the old compressor did! I noticed upon removal that the one I removed had new O rings, so the owner before must have replaced the compressor at some point too. Is it a possibility that the AC switches are not functioning. It does take me several presses to make the push button functions work. Whats the darn fix?!! Its hot out here!

Is the pressure switch working. You should have replaced the rec drier too. you can jump the connector at the switch to see if the switch is bad.

Wow! There isnt a day that goes by that I dont thank God above for this site. I jump the pressure switch as you suggested and the ac and fan kicked on. So I tried to adjust the switch first and nothing, so I went to my garage and pulled another switch off another canister I had. It was so easy ti take off. I was like taken a cap of a valve stem-no tools required. It installed just as fast as i took it off the other canister. Now after I installed the other switch, the fan would kick on and A/C clutch would engage, but intermittently. So I backed the adjustment screw off(counter clockwise) one turn at a time, and by the second turn the fan and clutch were engaging correctly. This allowed me to put the 2 cans of freon in, and now I have cold A/C again!! LIFE IS GOOD!!!
Pics of the switch just in case some else has this problem..

So I bought a new compressor for nothing, but at least I have a good back up unit when the time comes I guess. Thanks HCOR for your suggestion
Also should I now turn the witch back 2 turns since now the system is filled with freon or just leave it alone?

If it works I would leave it. Have you checked the pressures with a set of gauges? As long as they are in specs you should be ok.

Get a set of gauges on it and adjust the low pressure so it shuts off around 30* (I forget what the pressure is for this).
Shiny Side Up!

Wait, where does this go?

What kind of gauge is it? can I just use a regular tire pressure gauge?
