I bought a Stinger BOV last winter and I believe I installed it wrong...more specifically in the wrong location. If you are looking at the engine, it is installed to the right of the stock intercooler. I have read that it should be installed between the VAM and the turbo, which is nowhere near where I put it! The car runs fine, doesn't seem to have any boost loss, but now I am unclear if I could hurt the car somehow, or if it is fine where it is? I am not too knowledgable about turbos/BOV, so any help would be recommended. I also saw that to install it correctly you have to drill into the stock intercooler and that the car may run rich because of the BOV? Is it worth it I guess? I figured I could save some wear and tear on the turbo, and I do like the sound, but maybe I am better off just putting the car back to normal and selling the BOV....I tried to post pics but can't seem to get it right. I hope the explanation makes sense. Thanks for any input!

Sounds to me like it's installed correctly. BOV's go between the turbo and throttle body. NOT between the vam and turbo... That would be utterly pointless.

By "to the right of the stock IC" I assume you mean between the IC outlet and the throttle body? If this is right, then it is installed correctly. If you have a bypass valve (BPV, recommended for our system so you dont loose any unmetered air to atmosphere) then the "dump" end of the BPV gets routed to between the VAF and turbo.

I have always read that a BOV wasn't necessary with an IHI? Such a small turbo and all...limited air flow???

I agree, Travis, on a stock engine, with stock IC and stock boost levels, a a BPV or BOV wont do much.

Thanks! I feel better now....wish I could post a pic! But that's is where I put it between the intercooler and intake. I know it doesn't do much of anything except maybe save some Turbo wear and make noise...but what does a wife get a guy who has everything LOL? Thanks guys!
