Sticky accelerator pedal??

Occasionally when the accelerator is floored it sticks wide open.  Stomping on it usually will release it.  I can never duplicate the problem with the engine not running and all the linkage looks fine.  At first I thought the pedal may be getting stuck on the floor mat but doesn't seem to be the case.  I was wondering if the throttle linkage may be binding up somewhere but am not finding anything.  Thought I would check if anyone has any ideas?  Thanks

I would remove the throttle body, give it a good cleaning and check for smooth movement throughout the whole range. While it's apart, check the throttle cable for same smooth operation, if you feel any catching or notchy sections, clean, lubricate, and reassemble. These would be the only two parts I can think of that would cause it to stick.

Thanks guys... I'll give it a try. Pretty sure I've cleaned/checked the TB before. I'll give it another shot. This unfortunately has been going on for quite some time, just forget about it until it strikes again, which was yesterday!
