Does anyone know of a source to get a steel bearing retainer for an '88 TC?
I guess the mustang v8's won't work, right?
Thanks

I think the V8 T5 ones are the same. The Input Shaft is a different length and the diameter is different on the end for the pilot bearing...but I think that the retainer is the same ?????
Try Summit or Holcomb Motorsports.

They are not the same as the V8 models. Most 4 cyl models have a small front input shaft bearing, while 1 or 2 early 85-86 4 cyl models have a large front input bearing as the V8 ones. When I did my tranny, I called Dave @ Hanlon Motorsports and he helped me get the right one. They are very knowledgable & helpful & I highly reccommend them. If you give them the Tran Id off the tag, they will tell you if you can use a Steel Retainer or need to use the aluminum one. Look in the vendor section for their website.

I know the steel ones made by D & D won't fit the 87-88 T5, only earlier T5s

Dr. Phang, Thanks for that info. I'm going to put it in the Part # forum.

Letting the cat out of the bag is a whole lot easier than putting it back in.

I KNOW that the moostang retainer wont work. the very front bering thing (race, ???? contacts the bearing and retainer) doesn't fit. I measured the diameters to machine my 5.0 part, but haven't done it yet. I don't get on the internet often, so if you need the dimensions, email me at [email protected].
