Hope I'm not offending the purist. Anyone out there think about getting rid of the 2.3 and go to a 302 or 351? With all the attributes of a Turbocoupe (8.8 with 3:55/3:73 gears, 4 wheel disc brakes etc) and the V-8 these might be a better package. Has anyone has done the swap? What modifications are needed to go to the 302/351?

It's your car. You can do as you please.

There have been 302 swaps done. Do a search and you will find some info. Turbocoupe50 and Thundr306 are two who have done it.
NO TC and NO headaches.

I'm planning on doing a 351 swap, BUT I am a 2.3T purist. I am fully restoring and modifying my car and the 2.3T just doesn't meet my goals for it. The 2.3T is good to about 450 horsepower, then things start getting REALLY expensive.

A 351 stroked to 408 with a TURBO (otherwise it wouldn't be a Turbo Coupe, would it?!) is what I have planned, and my goal is to make 600 to the wheels on pump gas and keep it streetable and (fairly) reliable. The 2.3T simply can't meet this goal.

If you're looking for 450 horse or less, there is no real reason to do a motor swap period unless you just hate boost lag that much. The 2.3T also gets great mileage, which I will miss very much when I have my 408 in there. Keep that in mind!

Also, I'm not going to waste the 2.3T either. It will be built into a 2.5L and it will get swapped into something fun like a notchback LX Mustang or an RX-7.

Pick up a copy of the latest mustang/fast fords magazine. There is an awesome white T/coupe on page 116.Although,it is a V8 swap car,it's still a turbocoupe in my book.Running 11.7 @ 124 mph makes him the fastest i've ever heard about.
He's running a P-1SC supercharger @ 15 psi

There was a 10 second 2.3 bird on TurboFord. There are a few 11 and 12 second birds as well.

I'm sorry but 15 PSI on a V8 making 475 horse/ 480 TQ is a bit .. lacking if you ask me. Some of these guys just don't do things right > :o
