I know it's well made SS and everything but the primary's gotta be the same length for me to spring that much.

Oh no, not the "my header is bigger than your header" friendly [Image: biggrin.gif] discussion [Image: biggrin.gif]

O.K. don't get me wrong Gary, not trying to get a rant started here but I gotta ask.I know that on N/A engines (mainly V-8's)that equal lengths on the primaries has something to do with the scavenging effect and equlizing the pulses and what not for that 10 extra horses or so.Does that still aplly to a Turbo engine?I didn't think it would due to the exhaust being tumbled by the turbo anyway,so would equal lenths be that much better in our case?I mean we have all seen what the only equal legth header on the market has done so far [Image: rolleyes.gif]and I think alot of it's failures have been due,in large part, to the tube design.Of cousre that's just my $.02 I could be wrong.

I'm thinkin' anything is better than the stock manifold! Even the "log style" header one of the guys is making, has got to be better. To keep the turbo in the stock location, I can picture a spaghetti nightmare to get the primary tubes equal length. And from what I understand, over the years, equal vs unequal is not that big a deal - until your at the high end of engine developement; espicially in turbo applications.
Like Pete referred to, let's not turn this into a pissing contest over 1 or 2 Hp or the theoritical "best" design; just a good design that works over a wide range, well made, and a somewhat affordable price(we're talking about hand built here). But who has the R&D(time & $$$) to give an honest comparison? The big header company's are not intrested - "I guarantee". $450 is better than $595 for the ATR! And there's Bobs ""log" for around 2 hun, so I guess pick yer poison.

Well for me equal length is more important than just a big log. I don't need bigger in my application. Equal length will produce equal scavenging wich will produce even firing. Wich means tuned and smooth running, maybe not 10 hp but I'm going with the tuning aspect every time.
And the stock heavy cast actually has more going for it than most would think. It holds the heat better. The turbo is actually driven in part by heat. When I asked 1 turbo specialist about wrapping, he said I would gain more wrapping the manifold rather than the turbo itself. Lose heat there, lose energy.
