See picture. #1 is Top Dead Center (TC). That is = to 0 (zero) advance.

#2 is 10* Before Top Dead Center (BTD) This is the stock factory setting with the spout out. This is 10* "advanced"

#3 is about 27-30* advanced. This is where the timing should jump to when the spout is put back in place. Timing should increase about 20* +/- 3* from where the timing is set with the spout out. If you set the timing to 10* spout out, then when you put it back, timing should be 27 to 33*

Hey guys. I talked to Dave and it is like he describes above. He sets the timin at about 13* advanced then plugs the spout back in and the timing actually goes retarded. Anybody ever hear of this before? My guess is the computer is whacked.

You sure he doesn't have the advanced and retarded backwards, as in maybe he is setting it to 15* retarded and it's going to 20* advanced? That would make more sense.

I talked to him on the phone and covered those points. I'm pretty sure it really is going retarded when the spout is installed.

Hey Dave

If you set the timing at 25 or so degrees without the spout. The car should run pretty good, does it?
Sounds like an interesting problem, how did you discover it.

i wasputtingon a new belt cause timing jumped agian on me. so i was checking it out to put it at 15 then with spout back on it went clockwise...but now it gets better. When the car sit's over night you start it. it runs perfect better than ever. After about 20 mile's it craps out.i stoped the car and bingo it is timing itself to -10. but only after the car is warm and you run it. Weird i know...still thinking computer is doing something weird but no code's still on the hunt for the bandit doing this..
